Q: Why attend the retreat?

A: To create a marketing plan, prepare all the items you need to carry it out (like professional photos and video production), surround yourself with professional coaches to assist, and be a part of a community to keep your marketing efforts moving forward.

Q: Can I have my coaching appointments ahead of the retreat instead of after, to help decide what I want to film and have ready?

Q: Why is it called a retreat and bootcamp?

A: Because we are going to work hard and play hard! If you choose to participate in all things on the schedule, you will leave with months worth of social media posts, photos and videos, interview talking points you have practiced for media and podcast interviews, send at least 10 emails (but hopefully 50) to solicit your ‘golden opportunities’ audience, and so much more. However, great creativity comes from playing hard too which is why we are offering you a mystery dinner, vision board workshop, sunrise hikes, yoga, and playtime by the lake.

Q: Tell me more about the mastermind group for 6 months? What will the group do?

A: Everyone at the retreat will have the opportunity to meet monthly on zoom to stay accountable to their goals especially their 7×7 marketing plan, to ask questions, and to get ideas from their peers as well as coaches. And this is included in the retreat price!

Q: Where will the retreat be held?

A: The Leadership Center in Aurora, Nebraska.

Q: Where is the closest airport?

A: The closest airport is Grand Island, Nebraska. If you fly into Grand Island, no need to rent a car as we will be picking up people and dropping off at Grand Island. Other great airports are Omaha and Lincoln. We can give you ‘carpool’ lists of who is flying in to share on the car rental from the Eastern airports.

For an additional fee, we can work with you to schedule a driver to/from Omaha or Lincoln.

Q: Can I bring a friend or family member to stay with me?

A: Each room has two beds, however there is an additional cost for a 2nd person in your room. They will have access to the amenities like the indoor pool, the gym, trails, and lake. However, if they will be eating any meals with us, that will all need to be pre-paid ahead of time. Q: What if I don’t want to make a video in front of an audience?

A: Our videographer is also a documentary maker, and can help you set up more like an interview situation.

Q: Why is the retreat called #BetterTogether?

A: If you listen to Jack Canfield’s podcast, you heard him interview Shawn Achor, the happiness researcher. In the interview Shawn shared when people are at the base of the mountain, the climb seems overwhelming. However, if there is another person at the base with them, they predict the mountain to be smaller and less daunting. The retreat and bootcamp theme has dual meaning then. First is we are better with coaches and professionals who have traveled this road before, and it feels so much more do-able. Second, we are better when we are together with creatives we will be traveling this road with. This is the reason why a 6 month mastermind, and two follow-up coaching calls was built in to the price.

Q: Is the retreat really limited to a number of people?

A: Most definitely! We have calculated how many people each coach can work with, photograph, video, etc… and have plenty of time to give you, the participant, our full attention. We are only taking a couple handfuls of people.

Q: Is the food good?

A: YES! And they are happy to cater to food allergies. Meals are buffet style so you will be able to fill your appetite depending on what type of eater you are.

Q: If I’m a children’s book author, and want a video made with children in it, how does that work? What about for other authors who want more adults?

A: We will recruit pre-k, as well as elementary age children, and have let parents know about signing media releases.

We also will be working with a local book club, a local book store, and coffee shop to film your promo videos when you want to use the videos to promote book readings or book signings.

Q: What will the weather be like?

A: Typical June weather is cool in the mornings and evenings, and warm (80’s) during the day. All official retreat and bootcamp activities will take place in a climate-controlled building.

Q: How do we dress for this?

A: For your photo and video shoot, you will want to wear clothes you typically wear when you are with your clients (example: when I do author visits at schools, I wear a blue cardigan over a blouse, and when I do my courage coach speaking I wear a brown shirt with a red vest and flat cowgirl hat). For ‘bootcamp’ time when you are working on the computer, be comfortable!

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: You will need to bring:

  1. a prop for the photo shoot. If you are an artist, maybe have a canvas and paintbrush. If you are an author, bring your book. If you are a trainer or coach, bring a copy of your booklet or handout that you use.
  2. A laptop computer to work from that has a USB drive. Or we can connect you to resources on the cloud.
  3. This is All-Inclusive, so the rest should be taken care of. You get yourself there, and we will treat you like the gift you are to us and to the world. If we think of other things to bring, we will send out follow-up and reminder emails.

Q: What is is the deadline for applying and registering #BetterTogether?

A: We fill on first come-first serve basis. Once we read your application, then we will let you know if #BetterTogether is the best place to meet your marketing goals. If we have not filled, May 19 is the last day to register. Although EARLY BIRD PRICING ends May 1. (prices and payment plans can be found in the application link)

Q: Is my fee refundable or transferrable?

A: The fee is refundable up until April 30, 2024, minus a 10% processing fee. You can also transfer your registration, assuming the other person has filled out the application and been approved, to another applicant on a case-by-case basis which is determined by the date of the transfer.

Q: Will I have my own room or be sharing a room and/or bathroom?

A: Everyone will be assigned to a single occupancy room with its own bathroom.

Q: Is the facility handicap accessible?

A: Yes.

Q: If I live nearby the retreat center, is there a commuter rate?

A: Yes, we can figure a commuter rate. Just mention that in your application, and mark the box that says “Make payments”.

Q: If I can’t make it all four days, can I still apply?

A: Yes, you can apply, and if there is room on the days you can make it, we will look at accepting your application.
